JOHANN FRIEDRICH HARTWIG died 1837, Naschendorf, Grevesmuhlen, East Germany.

His children:
HEINRICH GOTTLIEB HARTWIGS, born Welzin, East Germany. This is a little settlement of eight houses, and the closest main town is Grevesmuhlen. Nearest largest city is Lubeck.

HEINRICH married Sophie Wilhemine Marie Lange, daughter of Johann Lange, and Katherine Bibow.

Their Children:
FRIEDRICH HEINRICH GOTTLIEB HARTWIGS born Dec 12, 1838, Welzin, died Nov 27, 1899;
SOPHIE MARGARETTE ELISABETH HARTWIGS; bap 31/1/1840
KARL CHRISTIAN HEINRICH HARTWIGS; baptised 25/9/1843
EMMA LOUISE AUGUST HARTWIGS 1847

Note the surname spelt with an "s", as this is how the name is spelt in the baptism records from Germany. The “s” was dropped when they emigrated to New Zealand.

FRIEDRICH married Johanna Josephina Schildhauer, born 1840, died August 9, 1930. Both are buried in Lutheran Church Cemetery, Upper Moutere, Nelson.

Johanna was a step sister to Mrs Henry Rose, a niece of a Auguste Schildhauer.

Freidrich and Johanna had six children.
